At this year's AAN in Seattle, findings were presented that noted a significantly increased risk of leukemia from mitoxantrone (Novantrone) in patients with progressive forms of MS (note: since mitoxantrone is not a drug prescribed for patients without progressive forms of MS, I think it makes more sense to say ALL patients with MS who are taking mitoxantrone). Today's report found that in a retrospective study of 2854 MS patients receiving mitoxantrone, 21 developed leukemia and 8 of those 21 died.

His blog is CHOCK FULL of super interesting information about EVERYTHING MS. I stumbled upon it accidentally in my search for MS news for my own blog. I am choosing to re-post his latest blog entry (with his permission, of course) because I think that it will be a positive message of encouragement for many people who are facing so much uncertainty with MS, especially the newly-diagnosed era of MSers. The uncertainty and the "what ifs" are sometimes more overwhelming and handicapping than the actual disease. Read on!
